UCS as domain controller virtualized should provide only DNS and Active Directory Services. If you have a standalone machine running UCS you can do much more but in our case we don't want to stress the virtual Machine host because it is running on the DS218+ and the DSM provides the DATA STORAGE.
This is not a strict setup so machine separated configuration would be better in this case, but we've already found out that the DS218+ has raid1 running and so we do have a save environment. To make it clear I have to underline that the SMB Server connects to the virtual machine as domain client.
- virtual machine providing the AD and DNS server
- client connection to virtual host (ucs)
- smb configuration on domain user level
Clients ( Windows 10 )
- domain client
- rsat admin
- group policy driven smb share connection
